Inkjet or laser
A cheap inkjet is plenty for home coloring — pages are black and white anyway. If you print a lot, a laser can be cheaper per page.
Mind the ink cost
The printer price isn't everything — check the ink or toner cost. Models with cheap compatibles or a continuous ink system can slash the cost per page.
Which paper
Plain 80 gsm paper is fine for crayons and pencils. If you use markers, pick heavier (100–120 gsm) so ink doesn't bleed through and stain the table.
Economy settings
Print in draft and grayscale — a coloring outline needs no top quality. These two settings can multiply the life of a single cartridge.
